Certification
We are in the process of developing a certification that will ensure a level of competence and ensure that skills remain current as new global regulations come into force, as well as existing ones being adjusted to technological advances. The EU’s AI Act, for example, has explicit provisions to be updated in response to advances in AI technologies and applications.
We are developing two levels of competence for professionals to demonstrate their skill levels to their organisation, their customers, and to regulators:
Certified AI Professional (CAIP)
The Certified AI Professional is able to work competently with AI in their respective organisation and is able to critically assess the applicability of an AI system, its performance, and its risks.
Participants who successfully have completed the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme can directly apply to obtain this certification. (If you have completed any other AI-related course at Oxford please contact us).
Certified AI Auditor (CAIA)
The Certified AI Auditor will be able to conduct compliance audits of AI systems to ensure they comply with legal requirements, demonstrate the appropriate levels of technical robustness, and are aligned with ethical standards. Certified AI Auditors will be able to use the oxethica governance platform to create AI inventories, assess risk levels of AI systems, and complete the required documentation to meet the regulatory mandate for this given AI system and region.
This certification will be subject to a two-year review where certified AI auditor will need to demonstrate their currency with relevant advances in AI and changes in global AI regulation.
Membership of the Association of AI Ethicists
We are in early discussions with Association of AI Ethicists to allow for Certified AI Auditors to apply for membership, provided they can demonstrate sufficient practical experience.
