Reputational risks of artificial intelligence

This paper explores the ethical crisesassociated with the use of artificial intelligence, specifically facialrecognition technology. Through a comparative case study of four big technologycompanies, the authors identify and describe four major types of companyresponses to public outcry over their facial recognition programs. The findingspave the way for future research on the management of controversial technologyand the ethics of AI.
